About us

We are New Zealand owned and operated. We like to reinvest in the education and advancement of all our staff and those we work with in the hospital system – from the sterilization departments, to nurses, surgeons and management.

Ben Willis

Founder and director

Ben completed a BHSc in Physiotherapy from Auckland University of Technology, after which he played professional rugby for many years in Europe. While there, Ben completed a PGDip in sports medicine from Otago University.

A brief stint practising as a physiotherapist preceded a return to Auckland where 2 years were spent managing the NZ branch of another orthopaedic distributor, where he was involved in launching some successful innovations in both regenerative & reconstructive therapies.

Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Ben then set up ORB Orthopaedics, which continues to grow and service the NZ market with innovative products and personal service. Ben enjoys the relationships that can be developed in the industry between suppliers, hospitals and doctors – all with the final well-being and successful outcome of the patient at the heart of the business.

Ben still enjoys plenty of sports – though involvement is now limited to running marathons and coaching rugby. Outside of work, Ben loves to spend time with his family, wife Clara, and their 5 beautiful daughters.

Gavin Williams

Manager

Gavin completed a BHSc in Physiotherapy from Auckland University of Technology and, like Ben, played professional rugby in Europe. He spent 11 years away, and lived in Italy, Ireland and France. During these years Gavin also played in a Rugby World Cup, for Samoa.

Upon returning home to New Zealand in mid 2015 he started work at ORB Orthopaedics, as he looked for fresh challenges that didn’t involve an oval ball. During his final year in France, Gavin completed his MSc in International Business Development, which has provided an extra strength to ORB, where he contributes to the sales and overall strategy. Gavin enjoys combining his health background with his newly acquired business knowledge to bring exciting new medical technologies to the market, and ultimately improving the experience for the patient.

Gavin’s sporting activity is now centered on trying to improve his golf handicap and enjoying the New Zealand coastline. Gavin and his wife are kept busy by their three young children.
